Dos Ojos is one of the most incredible diving sites in the Yucatan peninsula and is definitely one of those places you just have to experience for yourself. These photos and the go pro footage (to come) simply don’t do it justice.
Dos Ojos named for it’s “two eyes” is created of two sinkholes connected by a 1300 ft passageway. WOWZERS!In retrospect I can see why they wouldn’t let us bring our long fins in. At 40 miles long this underwater river flows through the largest cave system in the state.
The cavern surrounds the ruins of an early Mayan settlement and it’s easy to see why they would choose to call such a beautiful place home. I mean, can I move in?
The caves are filled with stalactites and stalagmites and when the sun shines through the hanging vines it creates the most alluring rays of light dancing through the water.
